Sweden Rock Festival have ended

Sweden Rock Festival has now ended after 4 days of great music and fun.

We arrived on the wednesday and saw 3 bands that day (Randy Piper's Animal, Andromeda and The Australian Pink Floyd Show), but mostly took it easy and were social with friends.

Thursday:
The thursday started with a great show from Thunder, they were doing all the classics and a couple of new songs from the latest record. Low Life In High Places, Backstreet Symphony and Dirty Love were the highlights. If my memory serves me right, they didn't play Like A Satellite though...
Quiet Riot were next up, good songs but a bad day for guitarplayer Alex Rossi. We walked away from that one...
Symphony X we just heard from distance (as we took place in front row of Meat Loaf), and Russell Allen and the guys were in fine shape.
Meat Loaf did a concert that strongly survived by the good show. His voice was not in shape at all and they ended the concert with 3 covers and no Deadringer!! Sadly not as good as I expected.
Thin Lizzy did a good concert and played a lots of classics. A funny thing is that 3/4 of the band have played in Whitesnake.
Heaven & Hell ended the night tremendously. Not 1 Ozzy-song in sight, just great songs like Mob Rules, Neon Knights, The Sign Of The Southern Cross and Children Of The Sea. A great concert that sadly only lasted for 90 minutes...

Friday:
Pretty Maids did a great show and started the friday. This was the biggest surprise for me, I know they were good but not that good...
Then it was time for White Lion, or Mike Tramp's White Lion if You like. A superb show, one of the 5 best on the whole festival. Only classics and not a eye were dry during When The Children Cry...
After White Lion we went back to our house a couple of hours, the heat was mindblowing. We went back in time to see Talisman's farewell-concert, and what a concert it was! Jeff's voice was as stunning as ever. 75 minutes of superb melodic music later, Jeff, Marcel, Jamie and Brian said farewell with Talisman...
The last concert for us on the friday was Aerosmith, the biggest band ever to hit the stage on Sweden Rock Festival. They did a great concert, Steven was in great shape and sung really good. But... there's always a but.... they only played for about 100 minutes, far too short.

Saturday:
The saturday was easy for us, we only saw a couple of bands.
I (AORSweden) was fortunate enough to catch up with REO Speedwagon's press conference. The guys answered all questions with ease, even the more "trickier" ones as why the new record is so hard to get in Europe (no label yet, but shortly). The guys told us that the 6 dates they do in Europe was merely a "test" to see if there's a market for their music, I'll guess they knew a few hours later that there surely is. So hopefully they do a more extended tour next year, or earlier.
I saw a couple of songs of Soul Doctor, Tommy Heart is an amazing singer...
We waited in front row for 2 hours before REO Speedwagon started one of the 3 best concerts I've ever witnessed. Don't Let Him Go started and were followed (not directly though) by 4 new songs (that did great in the setlist) and the rest of the classics like Take It On The Run, Keep On Loving You, I Can't Fight This Feeling, That Ain't Love, Keep Pushin, Back On The Road Again, Roll With The Changes and more. 90 minutes of magic, thanks REO for a concert that we will never forget...

New singer in Nightwish

After months of speculation, Nightwish have finnaly announced their new singer. It's none other than Anette Olzon (here family name), previously in Alyson Avenue who will pick up after Tarja.

Anette from Helsingborg in Sweden, have a background as musicalsinger and many other projects, she joined Alyson Avenue in 1990 and recorded 2 albums with them (Omega and Presence Of Mind). AA played a concert in Malmö 2005 which we in AORMusic (among others) set up.

We wish "Nettan" good luck, a fantastic woman who finally get the chance she deserves.

This is the statment from Anette's former bandmenber in Alyson Avenue:

"GOOD LUCK ANETTE

It´s with pride, enthusiasm and love that we wish you all the best in your position as the new lead vocalist in Nightwish. We know what you´re capable of, and we know that you will kick ass!!!!

This will be a new tough experience for you, but most of all a fun journey, and you will do more than well for sure.

We have had a lot of fun together through the years and we are here as friends forever.

It´s very hard to find enough words to express the emotions but...
HUGS AND KISSES from your old bandmates!!!

And to the rest of Nightwish: You have for sure picked the best girl to front Nightwish or any other band in the world.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!

(Ei saa peittää! KIPPIS!)"

Presenting CC-Rock

CC-ROCK – ”EP”
Label: Zink Music
Catalogue #: ZMCD 001
Bar Code:7 320470 082843
Release Date: May 16, 2007

We think that the easiest way to describe what CC-Rock is all
about is “Feel-Good Music”.
The band wants their music to be like a powerful injection of
pure melodic rock energy. That is why there are no ballads
here - or any weak filler! We also think that the EP format is
the best for a debut and for getting just the right dosage of
melodic rock.
The band have been working a lot for getting an intensive
and full sound, working with some of the best men in the
business. They have chosen and arranged the songs very
thoroughly and we are all very proud of the final product. So
all we can say is, put the CD on, turn up the volume and
enjoy the ride!

The Swedish band consists of the two guitarists Peter Lundin and Anssi Alatalo, on the EP they are
accompanied by guitarist/song-writer Roger Ljunggren (T’Bell, Grand Illusion a.o.) and well
renowned singer, song-writer and producer extraordinaire Patrik Tibell (T’Bell) as well as session
drummer Marcus Nowak.
CC-Rock has been on MySpace for a while and before their site was hacked they had way over
sixty thousand unique profile views. Their new site hasn’t been up long, but already the number of
visitors is close to twenty thousand!
The CD will soon be available through all good melodic rock dealers, be sure to check them about…
